Queen City Prep- Coach Taylor
Unassumingly tucked away in downtown Concord, NC there is a Coach w/ roughly 30 kids who gather in his gym each day, chomping at the bit to get it in on the basketball court.? Barber Scotia College, which is the facility Queen City Prep uses, is the place where Coach Tony Taylor and his Queen City boys come together each day and if nothing else go extremely hard.
Before getting the to program, you have to know a little bit about the coach.? Coach Taylor isn’t your everyday coach.? First of all if we saw him we wouldn’t know he was a coach, he is too cool.? He is a diesel looking dude, that might give Kimbo a run for his money, but his personality is just the opposite.? He cares about his players, and he was extremely cordial to our staff.? He answered all questions, and had no problem helping us.? To top it off, his kids love him.
When we talked to the players, the two things they swore by were playing hard everytime out?and Coach Taylor.? Most all of the kids are qualified or will be qualified, so there are no headaches or questionable kids.? Every player we talked to shook our hand, was respectful, and made good eye contact.? With the way the NCAA and even some schools are cracking down on the type of player being brought in these days, that type of stuff is huge.? Add to that most all of these kids are capable players, and you see why it is a quality setup down there.
There are sleepers among these giants too.? Queen City is loaded on the wing and at the forward position.? They have a few potential high major players, and several mid major to low major guys.? In the coming days and weeks we will have full evaluations on all these kids, with contact information.
With prep schools being under more and more scrutiny these days, going to Queen City was a definate plus in terms of why being at a prep school is advantageous for a player.? The kids have structure, a positive influence, and are well taken care of.? They are away from home, acclimating themselves to living w/o mom and dad, and are in the gym everyday, sometimes twice a day!
They have players to fit every need, so do not hesitate to make a trip if time allows, and definately get to know Coach Taylor as he is somebody who can impact your program in a great way.

I have known Coach Taylor for more than 24 months and your depiction of his care for players is very accurate. In the upcoming years, Queen City Prep will resemble Oak Hill Academy. Also, Coach Taylor has a hands-on approach in ensuring your son is getting quality education, which includes having a more than acceptable SAT and ACT.
Additionally, Coach Taylor goes beyond the call of duty in having college coach evaluate player’s potential in receiving basketball or academic scholarship.
I saw them play at a showcase in Atlanta, they where fighting and arguing with the officals THE POLICE HAD TO BE CALLED IN TO BREAK UP SO MANY FIGHTS. The boys were very disrespectful to everyone at the gym INCLUDING THERE SUPERSTAR COACH. You may want to stay clear of this program it is not a Oak Hill and will never be one. The school and dorms are in the worst part of Concord, and I heard the food was terrible.
If you were a true “spectator” then you know that Queen City did not initiate any fights and that our SUPERSTAR COACH immediately intervened to de-escalate the situation. It was a very intense game and as a “spectator” of the sport of basketball, you should very well know that emotions begin to run high when you are losing on your own court as the other team was. But, it’s cool. Queen City is rapidly establishing a name of its own and I am very proud that my son is a member of this team! Keep hatin’, hater!! This only affirms that we made the right choice when we researched post-grad programs in North Carolina!!
P.S. Barber Scotia has a beautiful campus, with newly built dormitories, and I have had dinner with my son and the food tastes good! Why don’t you stop by for a campus tour? I’m sure they will give you one!!
GO TRAILBLAZERS!!!
